iPod buds don't stay in my ears well, so I need a replacement. Have read similar complaints about the MX500, so don't know if I should bother.

(BTW, already have ER4Ps [unbelievable, but suck for walking around] and PortaPros [too embarassed to don and leave place of residence])

Any thoughts on the size of the iPod buds compared to MX500?

I know the MX500s are only $20 and that I could just spring for them and find out, but I'm a cheap person.

MX-500 are big by earbuds standards. They also don't have a flange that helps you keep them in.

If you're having trouble becuase another earbud is too big, then there s a high probability that these wont work for you. A lot of people with small ears complain about the fir. Don't buy the MX-500 without trying a pair on first.

I don't mean to bust your balls-- Oh, wait, I do.

What the hell was that post for? I mean, was it relevant to the topic? No. Was it intelligent? No. Was it funny? Not in the least. Was it stupid? Definitely.

Now, maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but I have really plenty of your posts and find most of them to be obnoxious and irrelevent, and waste peoples' time.

There is a code of ethics on this board, and you must be this tall to ride. Sorry, maybe next year.

I have the MX500 and have trouble keeping them in. I can basically only use them when I will be very stationary. I also have the Shure E2s, which I recently purchased. These stay in my ears quite well. I must have small ears as mentioned before because I have to use the smallest flex adapter to make them fit. However, they are proving to be a very serviceable headphone. I'm still a little disappointed in the highs. They seem recessed and not ver crisp. However, I am still waiting to get my META back and the E2s only have about 5 hours use in them. I'm hoping there will be some burn-in effect over time and the META will bring out some of the highs.

If you want to talk about height well them in 6'5 and I doubt your close to that. Why do you take offense to my post I was just kidding. There are too many tense people in the world like you. YOU NEED TO RELAX AND LISTEN TO SOME MUSIC. May I recommend some 2pac, he will say his opinion about what he thinks about tense people who dont relax and have nothing better to do than flame others. This is not a flame, its just a fact. Too many tense people that need to relax. Just my $.02

Any idea why Senheisser hasn't decided to shrink the humongus diameter of MX500. I have never run into people who did not complain about the size of this earbud. Could have been a low-end earbud market grabber. Oh well...waste of great potential.

I listened to quite a bit of Tupac growing up actually. Troublesome from All Eyez on Me came to mind when I read your post. Great album. Takes me back to the days. However in giving it a listen he seems to extol:

"Pistol packing, fresh out of jail, I ain't going back
Release me to the care of my heartless strap
Say my name three times like Candyman
Bet I roll on your ass like an avalance
A soul survivor, learned to get high and pull drive bys
Murdered my folks, can't control my nine
Hearing thoughts of my enemies pleading please
Buster ass motherf-ckers tried to flee
Picture me letting this chump survive
Rearing up on his ass when I'm doped and dyed
Because I'm troublesome

Young, strapped and I don't give a f-ck
I'm hopeless"
-Tupac Shakur

And now we return you to our regularly scheduled programming...

Thanks for the helpful replies. Sounds like the MX500s are out of the question. The search continues. Bought some EX51s a few weeks ago but returned them. Were OK, but whatever frequencies account for snares and high hats and Don Henley's reedy tenor were icky to my ears.

Testimony to how helpful this place is. The search button has always answered all my questions.

Well, you could try wearing the 500s like I do. I received a pair of MX400s with my minidisc player, and couldn't get the dang things to stay in. So, I tried sticking them straight in rather than trying to point the driver towards my eardrum. This way you also don't need the foamy.

It's hard to describe, but think of those small Sony buds that are attached to a metal band (or a folding plastic band for the Sports models). When you insert the 500s straight into your ears it's the same orientation.

To my ears they don't sound bad worn this way. I might lose a little of the high end, but the bass and isolation are improved because it's a tighter fit.

Good luck.
