Just curious to see if there's any other fans of his work. I bought Monsters & Robots and Bucketheadland 2, and they're both great to listen to. I've been trying to make it by the local CD store to pick up a Praxis CD, as well as a copy of the new CD from Col. Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains (been listening to a "borrowed" copy, and through 3 tracks it's a great album, well worth the money).

Anyone else here a Buckethead fan?

Colma is another good one. Also Electric Tears. Only heard a few cuts off the latter on Hearts of Space but it sounded good.

I'll second Colma though it is VERY different from Monsters; much mellower.

When I saw him perform in San Francisco a few years ago he sort of broke the concert in to two parts, doing the louder faster stuff from Monsters and then in the middle doing some of the Colma stuff.

He then finished with a surreal version of wipeout played at quadruple speed.

Highly reccomended....

Bucketheadland 2 is a weird album. Alternates from the pure shredding, to spoken-word weirdness.

Electric Tears and Population Override are my more favourite of his recent releases. You should also check out Cuckoo Clocks from Hell.

Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains' Big Eyeball in the Sky is a surprisingly excellent album. Alternates with some funktronic rock songs with jamming. Quite excellent.

A coworker of mine is a big Buckethead fan, specifically of his Praxis stuff. I seem to recall he has a couple CDs of Praxis from Bondaroo (?) this past year...might have to check them out.

Yes...I have (or maybe had - haven't seen it in a while) Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis). An abosulte sonic collage, and as much as I was impressed by Buckethead, it is hard to overlook the talent of every artist in this "supergroup" of sorts.

Yea, TRANSMUTATION.. is great.. I love Brain's drums on that one especially.

The next one.. SACRIFIST is great too.. What TRANSMUTATION is to funk.. SACRIFIST is to grindcore. I think the whole Naked City thing was a big influence.. But don't be scared, as both albums have other styles like jazz and dub thrown in to keep it interesting.

is not. (Check out their fingers and thumbs in pics -- Buckethead has these monstrously long like Jimi Hendrix fingers.)

I heard Buckethead for the first time at the NY Head-Fi meet when Meech suggested I take a listen. Apparently he heard it from Dusty Chalk. Anyway the album Population Override sends chills up my spine. Some of it does remind me of Steve Vai, but in a less cheesy more hardcore sort of way. What other Buckethead albums do you guys like?

Steve Vai has massive hands, as well -- two of the biggest I've seen in my life. Bet he's popular with the ladies

According to AllMusic, Buckethead's name is Brian Carroll. Plus, both Ozzy and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have told stories of him auditioning for their bands, and I think they would've at least hinted at him being someone else.

...bringing the buckethead thread back from the dead because I saw him live last night. Pinchface was on drums. The show was nasty most of the time and just goofy some of the time. The bassist sang a song from the new chicken album and it just sucked.

The encore was a set of Hendrix covers - Foxy Lady into Machine Gun. Buckethead is one of the top guitarist I have ever seen - he's at least the fastest.

I picked up the Cuckoo Clocks of Hell CD. It pisses me off because all the tunes are short and Buckethead doesn't develop many of the riffs.
