Goshdarn those record companies! I stopped by my local Virgin Megastore today and picked up the Duladisc of Brothers In Arms..

Got home and found the CD side wont play in my PC *at all* GRRR

The found out via a bit of research on google that the CD side on DualDisc's aren't Redbook Compliant - hence no CD logo on the case..

It works in my DVD player as a CD and DVD-A (yay!), but its pretty bloody poor that It wont work in my PC to let me transfer it to my Karma.

(I did manage to rip the 48Khz 24 Bit PCM with DVD audio extractor, but that's not the point is it?)

Oh, and whatever cheapo polycarbonate they use scratched when i put the disc down a little offcenter in the dvd player tray. Very poor Materials indeed.

I would suggest you take on a little search and see why we educated enthusiasts here tend to avoid DualDisc like the plague. There's a perfectly fine redbook layer on the Brothers in Arms SACD Hybrid. As on all SACD Hybrids.

Is it too much to ask for both Redbook AND DVD-A to work?

Bit of a shambles in my opinion..

Oh and SACD is ok but I dont have an SACD player and I did want the surround too..

Apparently. It's part of the reason why I own countless SACDs but only *two* DVD-As.
