Hmm, i have ak70(first gen) and plan to upgrade mine

At the market in my country, i got two candidate ak120ii and fiio X7 with am2 (both of them 2nd hand item, not that i care tho.. btw the ak120ii is around 100$ more exprensive(coz it's only the unit and leather case, no box) which i found it pretty cheap seeing how much doest it was new)

Btw i really like the ak70's sound sig and pairing it with my inear stagediver 2 make me very satisfied

So, Which one should i get ? I would like it if it's not that far differ from my previous ak70's sound sig, but better

I would buy the 120ll. It has a better GUI, it is in my opinion a better device, and it is basically an AK240 inside. Fiio has been tinkering with the X7 for a good long while now, making changes, adding amps, bringing out new versions.

Have you listened to them both, or is it a buy as-is situation?

I would buy the AK. I loved mine. I didn't buy an X7 for the reasons above and others.

The combo is nickel with Zeus XR Adel.
I just want to test it with RSA The Shadow or whatever.

Thanx for the suggestion XD i never touch ak120ii before so i don't know, and i touch x7 for the first time yesterday (there is no audio gadget shop in my island)

X7+am2 sounds pretty good to me, but how can i say it .. it didn't feel special to me, like how when i touch ak70 for the first time(from cayin i5 and xdp100r), and some of my earphone isn't well matched withbx7+am2, like i still like how my inear sd2 sounds with x7, but i like how my ue900s and donguri raku sounds with my ak70 far more...

And i just got a bit better deal for the ak120ii, it's gonna arrive in 3 days i think i hope it's matched my preference

Nice choice. I think you'll be happy with your purchase. I loved mine.

Yesterday I walked past the Fiio booth at CanJam SoCal 5-6 times without stopping. They make nice stuff, but I stopped at the AK booth instead, and listen to the copper version of the SP1000. So nice.

AK feel good, they work perfectly, they don't need updating, the sound (if you like their sound signature) is great, and the GUI is beat only by Apple (which doesn't sound nearly as good.

BTW, in my comparison of the copper version of the SP1000 to my stainless steel version, there IS a clear difference in sound. Heftier bottom end, sounds a bit stronger (warm), and slightly-less upper end. I couldn't convince myself to buy one just for that little difference, bought a new IEM that's a bit warmer instead so overall I can get there on my stainless. The nice AK worker there said he hears the difference too, and he prefers the stainless as well. It's all a matter of taste, both truly TOTL.

In my country, 2nd AK100II priced at $270, is still worthed for these days? Maybe price will be different at yours, but for comparison, 2nd AK100 is cheaper $100 than brand new fiio X5 3rd gen or 2nd DP-X1..

Should I buy these one?

My preference : close to neutral sound, not too warm nor too bright, good attack and dynamic, fast, good detail&resolution. Soundstage not too wide is okay.

Blacklisted soundsignature :
Hifiman HM603, HM802, DX90, etc : too warm, too sweet, too slow
Fiio X5 2nd gen : too dry, boring sound
Onkyo DP-X1 : weak attack, too soft
AK100 1st gen, AK120 1st gen : too sweet, too smooth, too soft

Really glad to hear this...i exceeded the 128gb internal memory and 128gb SD card a while ago. A 512gb card would be perfect!
