Opus#1 has only basic GUI operations compared to AK models, but does feel similar in it's operation.
No WiFi
No bluetooth
No DAC function
No line-out setting
No DSD over optical
No Volume wheel
No Playlists (only favourites)
No Themes
 
Take away these features and you should be comparing it with AK320 rather than AK100ii

yes, i'm quite aware of that as i was able to audition it a few weeks ago. I must say i like the simplicity of its interface. i'm eyeing this as it's affordable, dual dac, has balanced and i like how it sounds.

i'm sure it is (with all the rave reviews that i've been seeing) but there are other aspects in a dap that i'm looking for. the qp1r doesn't really pique my interest...

dp-x1 - maybe, i find it too clinical for me. #1 is currently my frontrunner. But i'm waiting for #2. I'm also waiting for the dx200. And also considering the X7.

Hi. Sorry to ask what's probably a silly question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. 
 
Can the AK120II use USB for output? I'm thinking of getting a desktop DAC with a USB Type B input; can my AK120II output signal into this?

No, the only digital output from the AK 120 II is optical. The new AK 70, on the other hand, can do USB out. Not sure if any of the other AK players will be updated to enable USB out (that is, assuming they have all of the hardware to do so).

I have the AK 100 II and it's one of my favorite players, but it would have been great to have USB out on it, so I could use it with the DAC built into the Woo WA8.

The AK120ii has two OUTSTANDING DACs. Just run Line Out and use the bigger, better amp in your desktop system. You will not hurt for sound quality.

The DAC in the AK120II is fine for portable use, but I would hardly call it outstanding for a desktop rig.
