It is not designed mostly for iphone but for new smartphones. Galaxy S uses the old OMTP connection (left, right, mic, ground) and if the R1 mic'd version was made for it it wouldn't work with the new phones and any DAPs without an adapter. So, it's not an issue with the R1 - if you had a Galaxy S3 it would work.

That's correct. I've tested on both Galaxy S2 & S3 and it works well with both of them

Sorry to disagree here, but IMHO, M4 has bigger impact than R1, and I don't think it's big enough for bass-head, I gave this to my basshead mate to try (the same guy who thinks that both MEE M6 and M9 are not bassy enough, and AtrioX is 'just borderline'), as soon as he put this on he was like "where the hell is the bass?"

i think it's safe to say your friend either has partial hearing loss
or the seal wasn't good enough.

Even if some say it's not basshead level, there is no way he should be asking where's the bass?

+1

Bass is very much present on these.

Maybe it's not as tight and accurate as it is on say Yamaha EPH-100s, but it's definitely there. However, that's not a very good comparison since that Yams are like $100 more expensive.

Just got mine Friday. AMAZING. My W4R and EX1000 are collecting dust.

I feel that the W4R statement is an overstatement.  Can't comment on the EX1k though :p  The R1 are good, even great, but not that great :)

Haha...come on now...apart from the fitting, R1 has nothing on TF10 (which is my favourite IEM of all time), but then again a TF10 = 5x R1

You have no idea how much I came to despise the TF10. The initial shock of their quality was amazing, after that, the sound just went down hill for me. R1s on the other hand., can not get enough of them.
