They're hand made/assembled, so that kind of thing is going to happen. Mine look like that, but have only bothered checking just now. So long as they sound fine, they are.

Bass is natural, not pumped up, that's why they sound less bassy than the Bose. More bass doesn't = better SQ. The more natural and balanced it is, the clearer the headphones. All good headphones will aim for this.
