I went a bit crazy this weekend and ordered a pair of ATH-AD900. I only have a pair of Koss Portapro and Sennheiser Px100, so I thought a nice pair of open air phones for my desktop would be a nice little present (and probably the beginning of an audio addiction) for myself. I did not want to jump into the game of needing headphones that require a crazy amp to drive it, so I decided to doggy paddle in the shallow end. I'm also not big into bass music and listen to a various genre range from classical, folk, new age, video game soundtracks, chamber pop, etc. So, I thought the range of them would work well enough, for now.
The next step is to make it sound better than my onboard sound powered by gigabyte's realtek. I'm seeking a DAC around the $100.00 price range and have noticed the Nuforce Udac and the Fireye II. I'm not sure if there are anymore in this price range or which would make the sound of AD900 shine the best, if at all better than onboard.
Any help would be appreciated.
