I only have 10 classical in my collection so I'm sort of green. Here's what i bought this week.

1. Chopin Polonaise DG SACD Hybrid Maurizio Pollini Piano

2. Dmitri Shostakovich Phillips SACD Hybrid Symphony 7 Valery Gergiev

3. Bach The Art of Fugue DG Emerson String Quartet

4. Mozart DG Sonata's Vladimir Horowitz

Time for me to absorb these.

All great choices, if you can stand Shostakovich's 7th!

Happy listening.

Interesting choices! If you are going for breadth, you've done very well!

What is Shostakovich's "Hybrid Symphony"?

j/k

Does anyone know of a complete Art of the Fugue album played on an organ? I heard a really neat version by Glenn Gould, but it was only a single track (contrapunctus #9).

I also have The art of fugue on my shopping list. I have the Juilliard in mind. Interestingly, the emerson borrowed the larger viola from the Juilliard to play this Bach piece.
