This is the official thread for Boston meet (Okay, so technically, it's in Marlbrough.).

Thanks to Dave (drp), we have a location for the meet!
Please check out his post in the page 2 of this thread!

When:
Saturday, July 9th, 1pm - 7pm

Where:
Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel & Trade Center
181 Boston Post Road W
Marlborough, MA 01752-1840

Dave (copied from his posts) -
It's official, we now have a larger conference room at the Best Western. The Meet will be held in the Princess Ballroom, which is located on the right side of the main hotel building and all the way to the back right.

If you park on the right-hand side of the building and enter on the side marked "Function Entrance", take your first right after entering and go to the end of the hall. From the front entrance, go right and then left.

If you have heavy gear that you want to bring in through a rear entrance, there is a limited access emergency/security door. Please see Haj (Salt Peanuts) or me, Dave (drp), to bring in gear via this access. Other than heavy gear unload/loading, we ask that you do not use this door at all.

Additionally, there is a sports bar for *beverages* and pub-grub, and bathrooms in close proximity to the conference room.

The Hotel is also offering a special rate of $89.00 (plus taxes and such) for anyone that wants to stay that Saturday night. Make your reservation by June 9th to get this rate. To make a reservation, follow the link above and make sure you mention that you are part of the Head-Fi Meet.

NOTE: Attendance is not tied to Contributions. If you spent all your money on gear and/or need to borrow gas money to make it, please come anyway. If you need a ride from within the Greater Boston Area, make this known.

Meet Setup Team:
- I (Salt Peanuts) will be the point person/host for the meet and continue to send out the official announcements/update the official post. If you want your gear listed, either PM me or reply back on this thread and I will update the list as needed. I will also bring in stickers to use as name tags. FYI, I'll be the one wearing glasses and either a tan "Life is good" or navy Red Sox baseball cap.

- Dave (drp) will handle the accommodations and miscellaneous gear handling. Will also help with vendors that might want to send gear for the masses to listen to. Working right next door to the Trade Center means that gear shipped to him will have less travel (potential to get hammered) time. Can also handle shipping gear back out. Please PM Dave (drp) if you want to/can contribute toward the cost of the location.

Thanks,
Haj

Is there a place to have this meet? Someone was checking in Marlborough at the Royal Plaza?

As noted in the first post, the location of the meet has not been determined. AFIK, few people, including myself, are trying to find an affordable location for it.

i think the royal plaza trade center might be overkill. I have been there a couple times for computer shows, and IMO it would be way too big for a headphone gathering. How many people do you expect to come? If someone has a big house perhaps it could just be there? Or maybe some hotel?

I probably won't be able to come because I am a high school student and I don't think it would go over well w/ my parents if I went to visit a bunch of random older people from the internet.

Um, that was me that was checking into the RP Trade Center. To be more precise, I'm targeting the Best Western Hotel adjacent to and part of the trade center. My thought being a small conference room within the hotel, hence the overnight stay angle. I work next door to the trade center and will be having lunch there next week. Will update asap.

Other potential locations should be aggressively sought.

QUESTION: What is the best time of day and length of time for the meet? Would One-to-six p.m. be the best time frame?

Steel102 - We'd all love a big house to meet at but that's a tough one. Hey, ask your parents if some random old strangers from the Internet can stop by. Honestly, hopefully they will let you attend. Heck, bring them!

The girlfriend lives in Boston...why not combine trips? She's going to roll on the floor laughing when I tell her what I want to do. What goes on at these events? I'm spankin new to "get togethers". I understand the Headroom angle, but should I bring anything (amps, headphones, cd, vinyl, oxygen for hyperventilating girlfriends)?

Thanks in advance for any responses.
