Which do you think is better, the Bose Sound Dock or the Altec Lansing IM7. I know that bose makes a good surround sound(i have the lifestyle 48) but is the ipod speaker good? Please only state your opinion if you own or have clearly heard the speakers(not from in the noisy store!!!)
The Bose Sounddock does not sound good, is not worth the money, and is probably the worst $300 you can spend your money on.
Period.
I would say, if you like the design, the brand-recognition, and the ability to charge the ipod while being able to control the volume with the remote... go for it.
If you are in this for the sound, then dont go for it.

I have heard the Altec Lansing thing (My cousin owns it, and he stayed with me for a week, so I have a pretty good idea of the sound.) and it is pretty good. It's pretty small, something you can throw in a backpack and take with you. The Bose is just too damn big and too damn expensive. If you want to spend $300 and have no portability, get a stereo reciever and a nice pair of speakers.
Other than the obvious technical superiority and bang for the buck that Altec Lansing has, consider the fact that no one on these boards will respect you if you buy the Bose.
I tried the Bose SoundDock at my local Best Buy earlier today. And guess what? It has "cheap hi-fi sound" written all over it! Flabby, one-noted bass and very harsh, spitty treble have no place in any well-respected piece of audio equipment! Even the smallest of the Altec inMotion speakers sound better than the Bose SoundDock.
