Forgive me my fellow headphone enthusiasts, but i'm going to mention the 'B' word.

i'm itching for the (new compared to my old triports) New Bose OE headphones.

thank fully i'm also considering either the denon D1000 or D2000.

i want gut thumping bass, and portability but i don't know how big the Denons are. are they the same size as ........ any other full size headphones?

convince me not to buy the Bose! .....that sound terrible. help me out a bit!

P.S. i'm getting the Equation Audio rp21's and hopefully having a go on the RP-22X aswell. i want something to compare.

They sound awful even by Bose standards -- worlds worse than the AE. If you really want gobs and gobs of bass, you'll probably love the AKG K81DJ (a.k.a. K518DJ). Since you're willing to spend a lot though, you may be even happier with the Sennheiser HD25-1. Definitely leans toward the bass end of the spectrum quite a bit, but it's very crisp, clear bass -- not muddy at all.

Glory Be....someone replied! thanks for your help, but it doesn't necessarily solve my portable requirement.

yes, i know Bose ......offer less than .........suitable sound, but i did love the deep (if not well defined) bass of the Triports and they are......portable.

any other suggestions at this price range, for something that will offer me the same bass as the Bose OE and are portable?

i can't comment on the sound quality of the denon d1000 for the brief time i tried them at a store but they are on par with the size of the triports which they also had on display. they cover the ear perfectly (snug) and they use leather pads, not cheap pleather as there are also some leather padding at the top of the headband. i was surprised at how comfortable they were. i would definitely consider them. As for the d2000, they are bigger and from people here say, they need an amp.

I don't think they're better than conventional headphones. The soundstage is far smaller than my HD580s, and they don't go all that deep (but they are a bit more detailed). But as far as IEMs go, they're a good buy. I don't think they'd be suitable if you're into deep-deep bass, but the Super.fi 5 EBs probably would be.
