Lots of talk at Head-Fi about both portable and high-end equipment but not much about boom box type equipment. Does anyone listen on this type of equipment? There seems to be a lack of selection for this type of product in the marketplace. It seems to be either really cheap, crappy kids stuff or you move right up to the multi-cd changer "mini-systems". I have bought several generations of this single cd boom box from Sony and I think it is great little unit. It has plenty of wattage to drive a variety of headhones, some basic EQ settings and I find the high frequencies to come through more clearly than any others I have tried. I am interested in this type of product if anyone has more suggestions. Thanks.

I was doing my best to find a decent boombox for my daughter last Christmas, and got this one.

Sony ZS-SN10

It has the all-important line input, as well as the ability to play mp3 data discs. It's no bass monster but the sound quality is very nice. Looks nice compared most all other bomboxes, (i.e. it's got no fake crap hanging off of it and it's not made of 50 different pieces of plastic. The display is understated.) Has a remote. Comes in black or white, and the best price I found was at Sears.
