Just wondering, is there such thing as bookshelf-type speakers (with integrated amp so you don't need amp) that takes optical in?

If there is, can someone recommend some good options?

My plan is to use this as to cheap replacement for TV speakers.

I knew there were more expensive options but I figured $180/pair was even pushing the budget for his use.

I haven't listened to the Edirol monitors but for around $200 they are probably decent and I think they'd work fine for TV sound. They are magnetically shielded in case that is needed.

Yeah. The Klien and Hummel are even more @~ $2200 each. He said "cheap" but didn't specify any budget. I just listed all the speakers I was aware of and figured the OP could at least see what was out there and pick to his liking / wallet.

I mean we all do the same. I just bought a Little Dot MK IV, but that doesn't mean I didn't go look at the Zana Deux also. It's good to look at the entire gamut of product availability.

Cheap = 100-200 bucks. I think I'd just stay with TV headphone out then, haha...

I've got the behringer MS-40s which are decent if you can get them cheaper than the full price.

Edit: They look very much like the Edirol MA-15D BK which I just looked at. There a just a few minor differences. I guess someone ripped the other off.
