I feel everytime some model comes up, we are in the Godfather movie and master Wong would be saying "I'm gonna make you a purpose you can't refuse". Damn it.

The image I have in my head is more Master Wong as the introspective genius working hard in the background and @WoodyLuvr as the 'persuasive' Don Vito Corleone....

Just for anyone who needs clarification. This is NOT the case, and this is sarcasm. @WoodyLuvr works incredibly hard to document Master Wongs efforts - he is a great help.

I think it was pretty clear I was joking around, lol. But yeah, better safe than sorry.

People shouldn't listen to what I say, I'm just a troll :frowning2:
LOL! No harm done @nymz; as a jest your post was taken good sir.

@ian91 thank you for coming to my defense in clarifying that... as some individuals have clearly misunderstood my intentions on this here thread and my relationship with Wong.

But in all seriousness (and to set the record straight) I promise you all I am not Wong in any way, shape, or form.

I am a rotten rough guy (former QRF/CAT commander) now retired and kicking it back with my lil' Siamese wife in the Land of Smiles. I do not live in Singapore. Although a rabid music lover I am unfortunately gifted only with listening skills as my DIY audio skills were mediocre at best and my aging eyes and unsteady hands could never ever produce these wonderous creations that Wong makes probably with his eyes closed!

Just to be forthright, I do/did have a close connection to Sony & AIWA, but that was a very, very long time ago and is now completely irrelevant to my life and actions today.

Wong is my friend, a fellow audiophile and earbud fanatic, and an audio artist & engineer that I respect immensely.

Just spoken to Wong and ordered a Blur OFC PK150 Wraith Standard Edition 4.4mm - this will hopefully sit well alongside the Blur 266 mx150 aPs v2 Retune 4.4mm that I recently received...... can't wait to get this one and will be interesting to see how the PK150 compares to the MX150.

Now the wait begins.....

How're you liking the mx150?

I really like it - sounds fantastic to my ears (better than some/most mid-range iem's I've heard tbh!). It's has quite a balanced tuning with an above average soundstage - as Wong advised me, it does not have a massive bass (which is what I didn't want) but is a bit elevated and is still present/gives a punch when needed. Mids/Vocals are pushed slightly forward and I don't have any issues with the highs being sibilant and details are good. Overall I just find them a 'fun' listen - I wouldn't use them for 'critical' listening but then I never really do that anyway, so these are a perfect way to pass the evening away with....

They do still need a bit more burn in time though, as Wong advised me to put a least 100hrs on them but I've not had that much time to enjoy them so far and I prefer to burn in whilst listening than just sticking them on the side whilst at work - that way I can see for myself if anything changes (still on the fence re burn in really but more for my ears/brain to adjust I guess!?).

Got the evening tonight set aside to listen to these, so let's hope they start getting even better...........

Just got to get to the post first when the new ones arrive, so that the Mrs doesn't see me getting more audio gear, otherwise I might be getting her those new shoes she wanted after all................

New Blurs for new shoes...a fair trade! :)

Normally I'd agree but it won't be fair - the shoes she wants will cost ME a fortune.........:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Also taking my PK32 for a spin :) Damn, I think I love buds more everyday. There's just something so easy about it that I love.
Nice choice for the PK32's. Have been listening to Volume I recently. Sounds amazing after all these years.

Pretty much my experience!

The midrange is 'classic' Blur and low end extension and detail is really good. As you say, not massive quantities of bass or impact but enough to give some body to the FR. My current dynamic duo are...

On-the-go: DAP + 266 MX64 STE 4.4mm (OFC version for when I really need a more supple cable or want the larger soundstage / leaner signature)

At-the-desk: DAP (LO mode) + portable amp + 266 MX150 Retune 4.4mm

The MX150 seems to scale exceptionally well with a bit more power without feeling strained, compressed or strident and retains great detail top to bottom. Soundstage expands in most dimensions.

They can handle most genres I listen to. Both are long listeners and fatigue-free for me. I let my mother try the MX150 and she had a big smile on her face - so it gets her seal of approval! I feel really fortunate to have found a sound signature that suits my preferences so well.

I will do a short review of the 266 MX150 Retune when I can :)
