Hi, I have been trying out a few bluetooth headphones to go with my Samsung S21 phone for listening to music (various genres) through the Samsung Music app (all songs are 320kbps files and stored on the phone, no streaming) but I don't really like the sound of them that much.

So far I have tried a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3, Plantronics Backbeat Fit 6100 and my latest pair, some Sennheiser PXC 550 II Wireless. The Sony's sounded the best to me but make my ears quite hot and don't fit my head well (I have a small head so they don't clamp down hard enough at the top and tend to slip forwards or back), the Plantronics' sound ok (not as good as the Sony's) and have no ANC but fit my head perfectly but I still get pretty hot wearing them and the Sennheiser's have quite low volume compared with the others and sound quite good but lack a little bass (unless you adjust the EQ in the app but I don't really like the available settings). The Sennheiser's fit my head ok and don't seem to be as hot as the others but pretty much all over-ears are going to be hot.

Anyway, one pair of headphones I do really like are my Sennheiser HD 650's which I use at home for general listening to music and music production. I use them in combination with Sonarworks' SoundID Reference app on my PC and they sound great no matter what genre I listen to.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of a pair of bluetooth headphones that have a similar sounds to the 650's? I know they are open-back and generally, most bluetooth headphones are closed-back, which is what I want so as not to disturb anyone else with my music or hear the outside world coming in. ANC isn't a must but nice to have. I have the SoundID app on my Android phone (Samsung S21) which I could use with the headphones to get a similar sound to what I have at home but only certain headphones are supported with that: https://www.sonarworks.com/soundid-reference/supported-headphones. On that list, under each manufacturer will be the headphone's SoundID supports and some are highlighted in orange with a "For Listening" indication that they are better suited to just listening rather than critical listening for mixing music etc.

I have found with the Android SoundID app though that it seems a bit finicky at working, sometimes the sound changes and when you go into the app, it changes again so it's hard to tell if the SoundID profile when switched on is working correctly. I tend to use the Studio Reference (flat) profile as I prefer the balance and accuracy that supposedly brings but oftentimes I find it can be overly-bright and sound harsh in the highs or mids. That could be because of the headphones I am using or perhaps this profile doesn't work as well on the phone. It also seemed to conflict quite a lot with the Sony Headphones app which turns itself on automatically when it detects Sony headphones are being used (I also have a pair of WF-1000XM4 earphones but I really don't like in-ear earphones, they don't fit me well and always fall out and I don't like the feel of them so I prefer over-ear headphones).
Anyway, sorry for going off-topic there, I'd appreciate any recommendations anyone can give and suggestions for a pair of bluetooth headphones that have a similar sound to the HD 650's and if possible, are also supported by SoundID but that's not a deal-breaker as if the headphones sound fine or better without it, then that's good too. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi, thanks very much for your reply. That is one way to go about it but it seems like a lot of work and expense. I have been in touch with Sennheiser to see if they have any recommendations for bluetooth headphone that have a similar sound to the 650's so I will see what they say. I have gotten a bit more used to the default sound of the PXC 550 II headphones but the volume is lower than other headphones I've used and they sound awful with the SoundID app so I don't use that with them.

If you want a cleaner look that sounds closest to the HD650 (probably not that close, though) is the Grado GW100x with Geekria cooling-gel hook-and-loop-attached headband cover and hybrid-velour-and-sheepskin-leather-over-ear-pads (pick these exact options for the best results):
