Never thought they would learn... after the Beta/VHS war and SACD/DVD-A war, you'd think the industry was stuck-on-stupid slogging each other to death while consumers bopped happily forward to lossy-compressed audio and video.

Sony & Toshiba in talks to Develop Common Standard

What do you guys think? Is the next HD disc format dead-at-the-gates or will it really replace CD/DVD-V/DVD-A/SACD/Dual-Disc in the mid-term?

Maybe Sony learned their lesson after that last digital walkman fiasco. For those not up on it, it used a proprietary format only and wouldn't work with Apple formats or MP3 and subsequently went bust.
