I've got this idea that I want to try out this weekend and my girlfriend seems to be up for it. There's not a whole lot of "new" things to do in Cayman after you've been here for several years as she and I both have. Pretty soon, you get the "been there, done that" feeling; same restaurants, same beaches, etc.

So the idea is to play the 20 question game as one person is driving and the other person is sitting in the passenger seat, guessing away, trying to figure out where you're going, or what you're doing on the date. The answers have to be limited to "yes" or "no" so the person asking the questions will have to be creative to ensure that they are gathering relevant clues. Questions like "Are we still in West Bay?" or "Will I get sand on my feet?" or "Do they have air conditioning?" and the like.

I've got some great ideas about where I can take her, but have no clue about where she might take me, so it should be fun. It would be awesome to do in Chicago or New York, assuming of course that you have your own car and are not trying this on the subway!

I did this once in high school in Boston. My girlfriend (who had been in Boston only about a year) was taking me. We were walking, but I guessed it... about 500 yards away. The Isabella Stewart Gardner museum!

I did the same thing in college with my girlfriend.

It was fun after we got there, but she got motion sickness riding in the car with the blindfold on. I guess the moral of the story is "blindfoldee beware".

Why would you want to date a blindfold?

I've actually done this before as well--one of my favorite dates ever! And LOTS of people will get motion sickness if you're driving "blind" in a car for an extended time. My solution was to take a pair of regular Blues Brothers-style sunglasses and cover the lenses with foil. I also put some foil around the sides to give peripheral "blinders". The point is that he/she can still see slivers of reality around the edges of the glasses...which is enough of a visual reference to fight motion sickness. Plus, it is relatively easy to walk solo (or via a held hand) with the blocked sunglasses, but can be dangerous to walk solo when blindfolded.

As for actual date ideas...I'd think this would be highly dependent upon your location! I was on a regular run through Forest Park (in St. Louis) today and saw a couple having a candlelight dinner on top of the World Fair Pavilion. Beautiful view, beautiful couple. I might have to plagiarize their idea ;-).

Good question. I'm at least "one bag ugly" and maybe even "two bag ugly" so now it's making more sense to me why she was so quick to agree!

I've got something much better. It's a comfy little cloth eye shade (like a mask) that I wear to cover my eyes when I'm listening to music during the day, so I'm used to it. People use them when they are sunbathing, etc.
