Okay, I thought I was initially solid on getting the 400i's for 299, but now that I seen the 650s are at the same price now, I really got some thinking to do...

both excellent choices!! one consideration is the amplifier you have. lots of people like the hd650 with a otl tube amp. with the he-400i won't work well with an otl tube amp as it is much more efficient.

You can get the HD650 almost with that price around the year in certain stores. Though the audeze and hifiman prices are good as sales prices. I wonder why you dislike so much audeze.
I personally think they are great hps even for the price. IMHO But tastes are tastes.

The closest thing to an amp that is in my possession now is my Audioengine D1. Thing does a great job, especially for the budget I am currently on (college for the most part).
After some looking around, I'm pretty sure Im going to end up with 400i's. From what I gathered, I don't even think my DAC/Amp can even effectively power the 650's.

Razor Dog Audio now has hifiman prices up. 149, 299, and 699 for the re600, he400i, and he560 respectively. Go!

That he400i is a smoking deal and is probably one of the best bang for the buck this year in bf. I was told it was the budget version of the he560 and in many ways quite similar. If I didn't already have the 560 I'd totally snag one.
