A nice bottle of wine and a book.

There's a mall across from the office and I got my mother a gift certificate there. I know gift certificates are a bit of a cop-out, but she was able to spend a day shopping and I also met her at a nice restaurant and bought her lunch.

That went over better than I expected. I mean, I thought she'd like shopping and a lunch, but she told her friends and went on for a week about how nice it was.

So maybe something like that would work. I've also seen gift certificates to spas, hair salons and similar work well. You don't have to give an object - services work well, too.

Take her out for dinner, or make her one yourself <----- nicer one I think with a personal touch. Or perhaps tickets to the theatre or something like that.

If you want to keep it simple, flowers. Something that matches the interior or maybe she has a particular favourite flower? If you want to make a real effort think about what she is into. Get her something useful/special.

Well I bought a spa gift card. Its about two hours long includes a relaxation massage and aromatherapy and some type of body glow treatment.

It cost me the price of some used 701s which i want on the FS forum but shes my mom and shes worth it

Ooops, did not check your profile for age.
Spa seems nice though, and dinner as well. I am sure you find something suitable.
