Hi, I was just wondering if it was possible to simulate binaural sound from a stereo signal? I figure since people play music and video games on the computer with headphones wouldnt this be ideal? Especially for video games!

I would think there would be some piece of hardware or software that does real time conversion by feeding a stereo signal in and outputting a binaural signal directly into headphones.
I expect this to be possible somehow! Perhaps this piece of hardware or software could even be adjusted via knobs to suit the individuals head size in order to make the simulation more exact. Does such software or hardware exist? and if it does is it worth it? Thanks. I was just wondering

no crossfeed, but rather complicated HRTF algorithms.. Dolby Headphone and the like, for games Aureal3D for example..

btw. the best crossfeed I've ever heard - Pawel Acoustics HP-1

There are Dolby-type algorithms that implement HRTF. I believe they are mostly used for gaming and "virtual surround sound." Sennheiser used to make a product called the Lucas that did this as well. If you're interested in the theory, google up "head related transfer function" and "beam steering" (sometimes called "beam forming")
