Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb

Brutal Grindcore, and really unique. Has some binaural tricks throughout the album, mainly in bridges between songs and atmospheric undertones, but I think they play around with the music a little. Sadly, it's fairly hot, but it's an absolute trip through headphones.

Great album art, too.

Per the liner notes: Engineered for optimum binaural playback at maximum volume.

i thought this album sounded good through my e5c! i love a bit of pig destroyer, one of the best grind/death bands around at the moment. they are a blast to see live too, they dont have any expensive equipment, but they still sound really brutal! had no idea it was binaural though!

Yep, the binaural bits certainly add to the fun factor here, considering it's otherwise a 30 minute assault on your ear drums. Beyond the effects though, this is straight up, balls deep Grind, perfectly blending disturbing but poetic lyrics, thrashy blast-beats and solid grooves.

Amazing album in a genre I don't typically go for.

[EDIT] Oh, and the sound is surprisingly full for a band that apparently lacks a bass guitar.

Glad you're enjoying it Dr. D. It's rare for Grindcore to keep me interested like this. I've probably let the album shake my brain about 10 times since posting this thread. Unbelievable stuff. Love the lyrical style.

What did you think of the binaural parts? It's put to good effect throughout the album and really adds some depth to what is otherwise a constant barrage on the eardrums.
