Hey guys, first post woot woot!
k1000smile.gif

Searched first, and didn't find anything like my question so here it goes:

Right now I'm using sony earbuds connected to my audigy 2 zs in my inspiron 6000. While this doesn't sound too bad, I figured that I listen to music everyday, might as well invest in some higher quality stuff.

I am not sure if I should get earbuds w/ noise cancelling, or regular head phones with noise canceling with an amp.

Should I sell the creative card (not too impressed) to get a headphones amp, and would the lets say SHURE earbuds work with it?

Just wasn't sure since I still use earbuds with my mp3 player, and I would still want to connect my PC to my receiver sometimes.

To sum it all up, lol, is it possible to get <$250 earbuds with an <200 amp, or just not even worry bout the amp.

I know I wrote a lot, but I have a lot to consider, and don't want to be stirred in the wrong direction by the companies

Thanks, and any help would be appreciated!

well, if u use them at home sitting at your computer etc quite a bit, i cant imagine how u JUST get away with using earbuds!! id say for a good entry level full sized can, go with something further down the senn line, like hd555 is ok, or even invest in a used pair of beyer dt770 pro-80s. then in terms of earbuds, my PERSONAL recommendation would be to go for yuin pk2s or even just go for it, spend the money, and get yuin pk1s. the way earbuds go, these are quite a bit cheaper than you will be able to get any of the decent ultimate ears or shures for. i really wouldnt bother focusing on the whole "noise-cancelling technology", its really not too needed. if sound isolation is a big issue for you, then go with a custom fit IEM, like the shure e3c or UE superfi5 pro, they will isolate MORE than you need IMO. in terms of amping, none of the headphones ive recommended NEED an amp persay, they will all sound quite solid without one. ultimately, amping will improve the sound quality, but its definitely a step you could make at whatever point down the line.

Stay away from any kind of active noise canceling. If you want isolation and something small, get IEM's. You can definitely find some IEM's for under $250 that are good quality, isolate very well, and dont need to be amped. If you want a full size pair of headphones, get some that are closed. (dt7770) for example. I wouldnt get any of the higher end sennheisers because theyre all open and will let sound in and leak sound out.

thanks for helpin me out guys!

So the amp isn't needed yet, I can use that money for headphones then, but I guess it is earbuds vs. full sized ones.

I wouldn't have a problem using my earbuds I have now when walking to class, and then having a nice pair for my computer, it's just that I have bad memories of these Panasonic headphones that KILLED my head, they were extremely uncomfortable to wear, and my ears would sweat real bad, lol just being honest.

Would the full sized ones be better than earbuds if I wanted to use them just for my laptop, instead of using them w/ portables?

Thanks again!
