I have this low cost Nicehck High Purity Copper Cable now, and I definitely prefer stock SPC. I will probably try this one mentioned by Zikarus

Hi guys, just got my DM6, What is the best cable for DM6 you can recommend? I would like to change stock cable, and is there a difference in 16 core cable and 8 core? I like to buy this one what do you think?

Hopefully last question: anybody try this yet? Suspiciously cheap, but I don't really feel like waiting for the month+ it might take ordering from China now.

Edit: or this

I bought the first one in balanced on sale for my DM6. I don´t think you can go any better for the price. Maybe the nicehck, but I wanted to see my copper wires :)
It is really nice and soft compared to the original SPC cable, thus probably less durable. Sounds much better than SPC. I think next step up would be the well regarded nicehck cable which floats around $60-$90, which is imho not worth for $200 iems..

Pardon my interruption but...
* If anyone is interested (maybe unhappy with their DM6?) - Ive just put my TANSIO MIRAI TSMR-3 3BA Knowles Driver 7 Tuning Switch 2Pin - up for for Trade in the sale/trade forums
Superb IEM but doesn't fit my ears very well :/

Thank you - carry on

Lol.. crazy hobby.

Gonna play devils advocate ..
You could just spend half as much and get the FIIO BTR3 and continue to use your 3.5mm copper cable if wireless is your main requirement. It’s shockingly fantastic sound quality when used with LDAC.
I’m more than happy to use it for all none MQA and none HiRes tracks. No real difference compared to using wired headphones with LG V30.

The SQ between ES100/BTR3 is nothing according to many opinions. Some prefer one tuning over the other. No clear winner in that area which is a credit to BTR3.

If I wanted to experiment with balanced I would get a HiRes capable DAP that can at least do 24/96 minimum if not full 24/192.

Look forward to your opinions whichever way you go. GL :D

Even though I like the sound of the ES100 more, it's not just about the audio quality, it's the entire experience that makes it better:
For a few $ more you get a 2.5mm balanced port which makes a huge difference.
You also get one of the most amazing apps that gives you a ton of features + EQ + amp volume control.
You also get a lot of updates that make the ES100 more relevant (Bluetooth 5.0 was the last one).

YMMV

Good afternoon everybody!

This is my first post here on head-fi an I will just let you know some of my short first impressions of the DM6.

Until few years I was using my Shure E2c since 2008. I know that they lack bass but they have some good treble to me. After some years the cable got stiff and broke in the end and so I can‘t use it anymore. Maybe I will do some soldering on the cable, let’s see.

To follow the hype I ordered the DM6 which arrived after only 11 days of shipping.

I’m pleased with the earphones by now, they provide good mids, good treble an I really like the clean BA-bass. Got the IEMs with the SPC mixed braided cable.

I also want to share some negative or let’s say some neutral experiences with you:

I first listened to the DM6 connected to my Philips FA 911 and listened to some CD tracks in order to get good sound quality. At least I hoped so. As I started listening I immediately was disappointed because oft he lack of treble. From what I had in my mind the Shure E2 provided much more of it. I thought that it can’t be true. $199, BA drivers and a „dull“ sound? (A member in this thread mentioned that they sound like the singers shoved some cotton balls up thier noses) Ok, the problem might be the impedance of the phones output at the amplifier. I read about it in this thread a few days before. So I decided connecting the IEMs to my phone (Sony XZ) and to my laptop. And yeah, people are right when they say that these particular earphones sound different on distinct sources. They also picked up the „sound“ of the flashing remote control LED oft he amplifier :astonished:. But for what I can tell you until now the DM6 sound good to my ears but I think I am missing some high frequencies. I thought the step from E2c to DM6 was higher even when I think about the fact that latter can compete in the $500 class.

So what do you think? Do I need just a little bit more time of listening to the DM6? :triportsad:

Please don’t get me wrong, they are some very beautiful crafted earphones with a good sound they will give me some wow effect tot he music but they don’t.

Subsequent I will show you some pictures. Also of the broken stock cable (it was already damaged), but for me there is no effect to the sound or some hearing differences from the left and right channel and it isn’t worth a return.

Hmm... what a pitty. Obviously, I'm not able including some pictures but from a URL.

Greetings from Germany

I think I am missing some high frequencies

Its hard to imagine the DM6 missing high frequencies when many tend to say it has too much of them.
People are buying after market copper cable to tame the high frequencies and changing tips.
Get the cable exchanged and hopefully that will fix your issue. If you haven’t also experiment with narrow and wide bore silicon tips.
Let’s hope the driver units are not faulty.

Amazing pics.

get a refund/exchange on that cable.

Thank you!

Heard the DM6 with some songs on youtube today (i.a. Adele - Hello) and they appear to me with very good treble. I think it clearly depends on what music quality you listen to. Obviously, the problem with the Philips amplifier is the output impedance of the phones connection. The songs on my laptop are mainly some older MP3s with bit rates between 192 kbit/s and 320 kbit/s. That should be the problem and the fact of the changing frequency response dependent on the impedance, e.g. 32 ohms instead of the needed 20 ohms). Nevertheless, I will test different tips (especially wide bore) and am looking for copper cable.

is that the cable from the DM6 that is broken?

Yes, the broken cable is the standard one.

Thank you very much for your replies so far.
I will give you an update in a few days.

what camera are you using? looks like a macro lens lol

hopefully you can get your cable replaced, the treble on the DM6 is near the limit of some from what I understand, but I love it, and yes the DM6 is very sensitive to the source material and the player

i'm sure it will get better if you get the cable replaced or get another mmcx cable
