As the successor to my Beyerdynamic T.1.2, which did not want to sound really good on the RME ADI-2 Dac, I bought a T1.3. So far I was convinced of the T1.3, in my ears a clear improvement compared to the predecessor, I can listen to it for hours and look forward to the next session.

A Focal Clear was recently tried out and I didn't like listening to a small part of its mid-range, at least on the RME I couldn't listen relaxed. The Focal Clear is out.

Since today I have a Denon AH-d9200, here my impressions of the Beyerdynamic T1.3 vs Denon AH-d9200:
both good, a matter of taste. The fit of the Denon is smaller, perfect for me.The T1.3 also fits very well.

The Denon sounds more direct, with beautiful trebles and open mids.
The T1.3 sounds more relaxed, more live, with bigger soundstage and more powerful bass.
There are tonal differences, but with long-term listening they probably disappear, tonally I prefer the Denon, but the T1.3 sounds less like a headphone, the music comes up in the room.
I like both of them, they play in one class, but I don't want to keep both, I like to keep it simple, so I have to choose.
With some EQ, maybe I can breathe a bit of Denon into the T1.3?

If I only listen to classical music, then the Denon would be the first choice, unfortunately I also listen to jazz, pop, rock, folk and electronic music.

Which one to choose?

I recommend you to try a lot both of them. Don't make quick trials... If you have time to send it back the Denon's, just be quiet and enjoy both some time. If you decide for the Denon, then sell the T1.

On paper, the Denon is more neutral (I didn't try it, just for the opinions on it's thread)... Im dying to try them... The T1 v3 took a long time for me to really like them. Now, I'm starting to get used to them and appreciate the sound.

Keep me informed with your decision.

Intermediate result:

Beyerdynamic T1.3
+ fatigue-free listening
+ spatial representation
+ relaxed and competent presentation, especially of a complex musical event
+ Music builds up from the lower mids / bass
+ Bass more voluminous
+ Rock, pop, electronic music
- the trebles are not perfect for certain classical music
+ more space for the ears

I prefer the Beyerdynamic for:

Denon AH-d9200
++ silky, illuminated trebles
+ Bass
+ Violins (classical music)
+ Tube amplifier should improve the sound
+/- more direct representation
- soundstage comparatively limited
- Space for ears a little tight / warm ears
+ high quality processed

I prefer the Denon for:

Final result:

The Beyerdynamic T1.3 sounds more competent, offers a more relaxed presentation on its larger stage, most music sounds better with the T1.3, at least on the RME Adi-2 Dac.

The Denon AH-d9200 sounds more intimate, with a narrower stage, which goes particularly well with smaller musical ensembles (e.g. Violin, voices), they can sound more touching than the T1.3.

9200 vs T1.3, is like comparing a “Rogers ls3 /5a” with a “Dynaudio Contour 30i”. The comparison may be limp, but you can see the picture.

Both headphones can complement each other, I would like to keep both, if in doubt, the decision for the Beyerdynamic is reasonable.

As far as my point of view...

Denon AH-9200 is closed back compared to T1 which is open back, so the Denon will have a worse sound stage. I don't think its a fair comparison

I never intended to be fair to the headphones, just was looking for a better alternative to the T1.3. I was hoping for the highly acclaimed Denon D9200, to compare two alternatives with a strong bass. After buying it, I had to make a decision, I hoped for the experience of the forum, in the end I relied on my ears. To help others, my truth has been left to the forum. Nothing more, nothing less.

Perhaps the difference between the T1.3 and the T5.3 isn't that dramatic...?

I don't own either, but am considering both. From what I've read, the T5 3rd should have some additional presence in the upper mids.
