which one is better? i have a sony mdr-xb500. this is my first post here

From what I know of the XB500 you may be looking at a downgrade if you are going to either the dtx 300p or CAL!.

The bass rolls of very quickly below 100Hz
The 30Hz square wave response is terrible.  There is almost no square wave seen.
The distortion is not great from 100Hz and below
The impulse response shows some ringing leading to a slight tinny sound

Much better bass response from 100Hz and below
30Hz square wave resembles a decaying 30Hz square wave
Seal is ok, but not fantactic
There may be some slight bite in the treble, but I never heard it.
 
The CAL! is going to be a much more neutral sounding headphone and is my pick.

If you a bass heavy can, get the Sony.
 
On the other hand if you want a good, balanced all around can, get the CAL!.
