I'm looking to get one of these and will be auditioning them (if they are available) before getting them.

Now the problem comes with the DT990 since it comes in the 32Ω, 250Ω and 600Ω version.
I don't have an amp yet nor can I borrow one but I do plan to get the Fiio E10 once I do purchase them. (The store doesn't provide desktop amps)

How big of a difference will the 3 different Ω versions be? I listen mostly to trance and instrumental rock and metal.
I also plan to use them when I watch anime, movies, sitcoms and when I play games.

I would go for the ath900, since the dt990 have a reputation for throbbing bass and recessed mids, that is exactly what you don't want when it comes to rock and roll headphones.

What are you plugging these headphones into?
The ATH-AD900s will work without a headphone amplifier (but adding a headphone amplifier should at least help the sound a little).
The DT990 250-Ohm & 600-Ohm have to be used with a headphone amplifier.
You might want something better then the E10 for use with the 600-Ohm version.
Personally, I would not use the DT990 32-Ohm unless I had a headphone amplifier, brings out it's best.

But I listen to trance as well.

My computer and laptop. Both have realtek onboard sound card which is why I plan to get the E10.
No intention to use them on the go since they're bulky and leak sound.

The ATH-AD900 will have a nice decent bass.
The DT990 have more (full) bass.

The DT990 Pro 250-Ohm will have more bass then the DT990 Premium 32-Ohm.
The DT990 Premium 32-Ohm will have slightly less champ on the ear and slightly better comfort.
The DT990 Premium 32-Ohm might (guess) have a slightly better over all sound then the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm.

Where you looking at the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm or DT990 Premium 250-Ohm?
