More tomorrow when I've recovered from the 3-day LAN I just got back from, but for now I'll just say that these things are SO amazing.

Thanks Snufkin et al who convinced me to get them. I am *extremely* happy I bought these instead of the SR60's and the HD497's I was considering. I had them on my head for about 18hrs/day for the last three days and it was something else entirely.

I've decided there's no need to spend either $400 on 4.1 Logitech speakers or $1000+ on 2 (or 4) speakers and a receiver when I get back to Adelaide. A new, much better soundcard (The TurtleBeach Santa Cruz most likely) and a headphone amp is what I shall be getting instead

You person. I guess you won't be selling them to me any time soon, uh. dang. ENJOY your new headphones. You're welcome.

And welcome to Team Beyer Dynamics. We are proud to have you as a member.

DT831
DT931 (soon)
DT880 (PLEASE!!!)
DT531 (as soon as I can get a pair).

Can you say "Antness Gilmore"? Man, I want to hear that combo.

There's no way I'm letting these go. Ever

As my first introduction to decent sound, I couldn't have hoped for (or imagined) anything better. My girlfriend and her mother have been listening to them for a bit now, and they're trying to work out how long it will take them to save the money to get a pair each

Moulin Rouge - El Tango De Roxanne

I can't believe how much more emotional this music is. I've TOTALLY rearranged my list of future purchases.

Radeon 9700 Pro? Coolermaster ATC201 Case? Vapochill? Bah

Headphone Amp, Decent Soundcard, DT880's. That is all

forget the decent sound card, just add an intregrated amp to the sound card. about $50 on ebay.

did you read my DT880 review? Hopefully Greg will be adding his DT880 review soon. HD600 owners, be afraid. Be very afraid. Those thinking of getting the HD600, you should listen to the DT880 before deciding. They may surprise you.

NZ $289, which is US $145. (HD497's = US100, Grado SR60's = US130 to get an idea of prices over here), and I bought them in New Zealand

Umm, I listen to everything lol.

Last night while I was giving them a decent run without a stack of noise around me (700 people and a DJ at a LAN can be a bit loud) I listened to the following:

Bic Runga - Beautiful Collision
Yo La Tengo - And Everything Turned Itself Inside-Out
Radiohead - The Bends, Ok Computer, Kid A
Belle & Sebastian - If you're feeling Sinister
Buffy - Once More With Feeling
rolleyes.gif

Gene - To See the Lights
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Metallica - S & M
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
The Posies - Frosting on the Beater
The Auteurs - How I learned to love the Bootboys
Something for Kate - Elsewhere for 8 Minutes
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Avril Lavigne - Let Go
Mogwai - Come on Die Young
Badly Drawn Boy - About a Boy
Air - Moon Safari
David Bowie - Greatest Hits
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
NiN - The Fragile
St Germain - Tourist
The Beatles - Revolver
Musicals - Selection from Les Mis, Starlight Express, Miss Saigon
Loreena McKennit
Soundtracks - Requiem for a Dream, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Fellowship of the Ring

Just to give you an idea of the type of thing I listen to

Now I've only listened to them through my less than wonderful Soundblaster Live! 5.1, but I don't have a single complaint, other than it's hard to get them off my girlfriend

Oh, and another thing - these sound a heap better through my soundcard than the HD497's and the SR60's sounded through a $2000 receiver - they're also about 100 times as comfortable and they feel and look like quality headphones, unlike the other two.

I would have bought my phones from there but I'm still in NZ and I needed them urgently last weekend

I dunno if Snufkin can give us a comparison between these and the Sennheisers?
