I am currently using a sennheiser PC 350 headset, and have recently acquired a new mic, and now I'm looking for new headphones.  I have narrowed my search down to these two sets of headphones: Custom One Pro's and DT 770 Pro -32 ohms edition.  Which one would be best.  Factors are listed from highest priority to lowest priority.

In terms of comfort, I am open to small mods like velour pads for the COPs.  Also, I prefer to have little (to no) clamp, as well as good isolation.  It also needs to be able to be driven by a mobile device, and not too brittle, as it will be travelling.  Thank you for your help!

I would "guess" the 16-Ohm Beyer COPS would be easier for mobile audio devices.
The DT770 32-Ohms are consider to be best when driven by a decent headphone amplifier.
So get the COPS

Thank you for your response.  I am already leaning towards the COPs, and was just wondering which would be best in the long run, because the dt 770 are like 160 dollars, while COPs w/ velour are like 230+.

Beyer DT770 32-Ohm for $160???, price sounds too low.
Beyer COPS for $230, price sounds way too high.

Well... My pick would definitely be the DT 770 Pro.
I really made a mistake while buying my COP (even if the velours pads improved a bit the sound).
There are too many music styles it can't handle properly.

And what would those styles be? I listen to A LOT of alternative/heavy rock.

Well, to my hearing, COP got really recessed mids and unpredictable highs.
So I'd say it really sucks with jazz / classic / even pop, sometimes. Not really your style
The fun comes from the 4 position bass, though, and you could like it with heavy rock.

That is what I was thinking. However, alternative is my favorite, meaning that mids (and highs too) are VERY important.. And you feel that the dt 770's are better at producing these?
 
Also, both of these headphones oughta be great compared to my current ones: Sennheiser PC 350.  I also have some hd 555s. but they're a) brokenish, and b) open.

I tend to think that mids and highs are at least more precise and stable, yes.
DT 770 is now a professional reference, especially used in radio (probably because of the deep bass).
Well, that's only my opinion, maybe some out there got others ?

+1 for the 770. I had the COP early in my head-fi career and didn't care for the sound. 770 may be more accurate in presentation.
