Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone

soundstage and imaging is where I would assume is the most difference as well as just being generally more V shaped and having dynamic punch but you tell me man I am looking forward to having a DT1990 rival or better although IDK about you I will keep mine still it's built like a tank
I wasn't expecting much from the planars vs my DT-1990, but damn they are impressive. And I don't sell my old headphones, I have too much <3 for them, and I enjoy comparing them. Plus I have some vintage collectables (HD-580 Precisions and Sony MDR-SA5000)

Monoprice has a 30-day return policy, and a 5 year warranty. Definitely worth trying out if you like aggressive headphones.

Honestly

😍 they are hooge also I have come to realize a great planar usually always beats a great dynamic for what I want in my headphones, still love dynamic but it's time for me to get my dynamic endgame (focal clear) and my planar endgame (arya) and move onto electrostats

Honestly, if you want dynamics in the Clears price range, look at ZMF.

I have re-purchased these fantastic headphones :relaxed: . At first, I will use at stock to get accostumed to them again and then I will try those amiron wireless foam pads that intrigues me a lot and also try to find the Dekoni pads you have commented here (I think it was the Elite hybrid).

This afternoon, I saw the Joshua Valour DT 1990 Pro review and Dekoni sent to him the same pads (Elite hybrids).

If you go with the Hybrids, they will enhance the bass performance passively, however, it will adjust the tuning. I have an EQ for that, based on Dekoni's FR charts. I have another one that adjusts for the Amiron Wireless foams too.

If you want to just improve comfort and keep the sound signature, and a little peak taming, then look at the Velours or Fenestrated Lambskins.

Do you recommend me the Hybrids or another one model? I want to increase the bass and tame a little the highs. I don't know if with the foam pads wil be optimal or maybe combining the Dekoni and the foam pads (or this option will be excesive...)

I have just had my first experience of Dekoni pads, unfortunately it has been a bit of a disaster.

I decided to go for the 'choice suede', because I was interested in hearing one of the more different frequency responses as seen in Dekoni's graphs, and I thought suede would be comfortable. They are comfortable, but the bass has such a turgid sound that the DT1990s perform like £50 headphones.

Just as bad as the new sound quality, the pads make a loud crackling noise whenever I move my head. Is it the memory foam trying to stick to it's shape? Sometimes the noise stops after a while, but if I take the headphones off for a moment, or just adjust their position on my head, it starts all over again. This is far more annoying than the most microphonic cables I have ever used.

Is it worth trying other Dekoni pads, or do they all make this noise?

Actually with the review I posed here I made a huge mistake.... Dekoni pads are hit and miss the Elite's which feel almost exactly like the Earpadz Midnight sound great when I reviewed I thought they had the Elites when I wrote my M1570 review... Big mistake it was apparent the DT1990 actually has more detail and edges the M1570 for resolution, the M1570 is still better in my book but not by such a wide margin. but yeah even pads that look or feel similar can be totally different

try dekoni elite fenestrated, choice leather and choice suede those are the ones you will see improvement on

I have the elite velour pads and have never heard anything like that.
I'm listening again now. I think I was wrong about it being the foam. It seems to be the nap of the suede brushing against the cushion I have propped behind my head (and it was probably my shirt collar when I first tried them). It really is a surprisingly loud noise. Never had it with stock beyer pads.

The foam pads are worth having, as pairing them with even the sock pads will deal with the treble peaks in a good way. Plus they aren't expensive.

The Hybrids will offer some bass boosting, tho they change the signature a bit, but I was able to EQ them back to stock A pad signature. I suggest you look at the 1990 page on Dekoni's site and look at the FR's and see how much deviation you want. Comfort wise, they are gorgeous.

The Amiron Wireless foam pads are not available in Beyerdynamic shop. I should have bought some weeks ago... My DT 1990 Pro are coming from Thomann, should be here next week :L3000:

I asked to Beyerdynamic shop when the foam pads will be available. They said that they can't attend me and referred me to their French distributor. I sent an email, but without answer. I understand, that distributor don't mind to sell some spare parts to Spain, maybe if I will go for headphones, I will receive an answer.
I chuckled* when I read this. They're the same price as HD 650 replacement pads, which everyone complains are too expensive.

*Maybe it was more like a mild guffaw.
He is referring to Amiron Wireless foam pads, more or less 2 € for each foam pad -now that is not available, price don't appear, but I remember something like that - (4 € total). But the shipping costs from Beyer shop are high (20 € to Spain).

Oh. Hehe. Of course. I knew that.
