Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

Agreed. I have both the 1990 and Amiron Home, and they each have a slightly different presentation but both are very enjoyable. The 1990 is a bit more dry (technical), while the Amiron Home adds some "wet" (saturation, maybe?), on my current setup. I know these aren't typical audiophile terms, but they are the words that come to mind when listening to each. :)
That is how I felt about them too, the DT 1990 is on the dry side whereas the Amiron Home is on the wet side. The T1 Gen 2 is a bit wet and the T1 Gen 3 is slightly dry. The T5 Gen 3 is on wet side based on my short listening.

Sold my amiron home for a year ago.
Liked my 225e better.
So maybe I should skip G3

The Amiron Home actually sounds a lot like the T1 Gen 2. The T1 Gen 3 is a different animal but if you don't like warm and dark headphones, there is good chance it's not for you despite the Gen 3 being the most resolving of the Tesla Beyers.

I own a pair Amiron Homes and love them, but miss a bit of punch and clarity with metal (progressive). Would the DT1770 be a good compliment with them, or would the DT1990 be a better fit? For now I'd like to stay with these series, because I can do joint listening session with the same impedance and sensitivity.

I also asked in the "best headphones for metal" thread -- there seem to be a lot of DT1770 owners here so hopefully the small cross-posting is OK, please do remove otherwise.

Nice  I tried this same set up driving my DT1770 Pros with the FiiO BTR7, works surprisingly well given how small the BTR7 is and how hard the DT1770 Pro is to drive.

1770 is not hard to drive.
HE6 is hard to drive.

I was thinking relative to an efficient around 32 Ohm IEM which is the target market for the BTR7 not a full size 250 Ohm all be it efficient full size cans.

Beyerdynamic tesladrivers in 250ohm and sennheiser 300ohm,dont need much power. Btr7 have more than enough power for both.
The old beyerdynamic with 250ohm and 96db is much harder to drive.
And yes. A 32 ohm 100db is very easy to drive. An ipad at 60-70% vol is high.
Sold my 1770 last week.
Now I only own 32ohm/100db cans.
Considering to sell all my amps and buy an ipad instead.
(Cant borrow my wifes ipad all the time)

@Stevko I thought we agreed that running the DT 1770 / 250 ohms on a higher gain position with the ATROX V2 made a huge difference.

In my experience the Sennheiser 300 ohm cans are hard to drive well. The Beyer 250 ohm Beyers are also hard to drive well. If you never hear them out of an amp with enough power, you will just conclude these headphones aren't as good as everybody says.

We are.
1770 is best on gain 3 with atrox
But the tr-amp with no gain button also sound good.
The 1770 need a good amp to sound good.
The btr7 should sound good with 1770 in high gain
