Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

Internal reflections/resonances are the most likely culprit. The Beyers all share the same characteristic (and Ultrasones too) because they all use virtually the same shell between models.

I'm going to list my COPs in the marketplace in a few days, but if anyone wants them for $150 shipped please PM me.

Edit: Here's the listing, for anyone interested.

Good news! Beyer has the headset cable for the COP available for pre-order!

Bad news!   It's $83. What are you thinking Beyerdynamic?!?!

Finally finished reading this thread. I just want to clarify some things:
Back around page 30, it was mentioned that there are two other "Custom" headphones, have they been announced yet?
Also, it seems like there is no problem with COPs clipping, as those were just defective pairs?

I haven't really been keeping up... what are the most likely candidates for the "other 2"?

How are these for trance music?

Can anyone compare them against the HFI-580 and/or WS99 and/or V-Moda m100?

The COPs aren't the most refined, but the variable vents will allow it to play well with both melodic and the wubwub kind.

I haven't heard the WS99, and it's been ages since I've heard the HFi580 but I would say the COP on maximum setting can give any basshead can a run for its money. The M100 I never particularly cared for and don't think it's worth the price premium over the M80.

Argh these are so expensive here in HK, 2100hkd = $300 us.. :frowning2:
They're definitely not worth that much, I may have to wait till I get back to Canada later in the year.

They're worth maybe half of that or less. Cool looks and options but sound doesn't keep up with everything else. And call me crazy but I think that is the most important part.

Thanks,

How do these compare to the V-Moda LP2 and the Pro700mk2 ?

I want to buy the COP because of the high quality and the its fun sound, but I'm still considering the V-Moda LP2 and the Pro700mk2? any advice

Yeah...it seems that most basshead over ears that can go loud are either to big and bulky, heavy or awkward looking (when talking portable use).

Even the COP looks a bit bulky when used outside but at least is really light and comfortable.

The most compact basshead over ear that I've seen so far are the VModa's (LP/LP2/M100). The design of the headband is thin and fits close to your head and the cups are really compact for being an over ear design.

Is time for more companies to design loud/basshead over ear headphones that don't look like you got a half of a astronaut helmet on your head, regardless if your going to use it for home or portable.

Yeah, I hope it's not the time for any of that. The really compact cups of the M100 positively crushed my ears within an hour. The COP doesn't touch any part of my ears, which is how it should be. Want style over substance? Buy Beats.
