Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)

Yeah I thought about that but as you say, probably not a good idea :-D Could a change of pads maybe increase the clamp? (DT 1990/1770 pads?)

Do you find it very loose ? How far extended do you have the headband ? I have a smaller than average head. I am only at the second dot on each side. In order to make it fit tighter, you can always try going a dot or two smaller on each side.

I'm not at home right now but I think I have it a bit further down (maybe 2 or 3 dots), if i have it higher up it feels like its not sealing at all (but maybe thats the point with this headphone?)

It may actually be that you just need to go one dot tighter on each side. I have mine on my head right now, and I just tried to open it up another dot on each side. Now it feels like the clamping force is a bit loose, like you were saying.

Yeah! Will def try that, I'm guessing these aren't "seal dependant" at all, compared to other ones like closed back? (since they're open to begin with...) I have a pair of T5p.2's and they fit nicely (but the pads are not as comfy as the amiron)

Tried with one dot and its so much tighter, think I'll keep em here. Anyways, these are screw*g good. Driving them with an A20 i paid way to much for and a Hugo2. Cheers!

How many people hear have spent time with the DT 1770 ? For my open back, I have my Amiron Home, and for a closed back, I have the AudioQuest Nightowl Carbon. I am not totally satisfied with the Nightowl, so I am going to sell it and look for another closed back. The DT 1770 seems like a great closed back companion for the Amiron, since both headphones use the same drivers. The tuning will obviously be different though.

I didn't like the DT1770 comfort wise, it sounded terrific but the headband was a mess for my head (especially compared to e.g. the amiron home)

Some people do seem to have issues with the DT 1770/1990 headbands. I personally find the DT 1990 more comfortable than the Amiron Home actually, but that’s because of its pads.

I have both and the Amiron wireless. The Home is airer and has better mids, and is smoother overall. The DT 1770 has a more analytical sound. More sub bass, recessed mids, little harsher treble. I really like them both. I did swap the pads for brainwavz rounds pads, which are better and I pulled the foam pad out. I recommend that.

I can do more A/B if you want.

Yes, that would be great, thanks. If you don't mind, can you test the Amiron Home against the DT 1770 in stock form while using this EQ set on the Amiron ? This is my EQ that I use on the Amiron, which sounds awesome, IMO. This will give me the ability to see how the DT 1770 in the stock state compares to the Amiron with that EQ. If I get the DT 1770, I will end up putting an EQ on it anyways. I EQ every headphone I get, to ensure that it sounds correct to my ears. Thanks for all the effort.

Hm. Well, that's not an EQ I have. I am doing this now on my zx300. The dt 1770 is bassier, a bit narrow and not quite as resolving as the Amiron Home, but it still sounds good--much better than xm3.

Switching back to Amiron home, mids are clearer and resolution is better accross the board. It does not have the bass impact of the DT 1770, but the bass it does have is more resolving. It's a lot more musical, but less impactful.

Switching back to the DT 1770-- the treble is a tad harsher and bass has a little more robustness to it that matters on heavier music. The vocals are less up front and feel a bit veiled in comparison.

Both headphones are great, but do different things with music. For heavy music, the 1770 are a bit more fun because of the bass impact, but the Amiron still sound good with that genre, and overall sound clearer.
