Well, not so the 600 ohmers! The treble is very smooth, and very detailed. It’s outstanding, in fact. If anything, the improvement that 600 ohms makes is more in the DT990 than in the DT880, although in both cases I think that 600 ohm Beyers are really the way to go.

Now I want to try some 600 ohm DT770s

How many Darths have you heard, Skylab? Just 80ohms?

Well, Darth Beyers really are mainly 80 ohms, although I guess you could "Darth" an old 250 ohm DT770, but the older DT770/250 don't sound as good as the 770 Pro80 that Larry normally makes into Darth Beyers.

I do also have a pair of "Luke SkyBeyers", which are 32 ohm 2005 DT770's. Those sound good, but I prefer the Darth Beyers.

The Deep Cup Darth Beyers are my favorite headphone ever.

I like 'em (32ohm dt770 2005 drivers in "traditionally"-built Darth cups etc.) a lot..........but, my ears may have become jaded by having listened dt990/600/05 for nearly a year. They're basically co-favorites and could be the best of both worlds. At least they make me happy (but, I choose Velours for the dt990's). It is true, however - I find myself reaching for the 32 ohm pair, while the gorgeous -figured Zebra v.3 Darths hang there on the stand....rarely touched.

Ok, I've borrowed a Beyer DT770-32 Manufacture from a friend.
It's sounds really good. Lots of the trademark DT770-bass, but a nice midrange too. A great headphone.

Here's some pics of it (in less than perfect lighting).

Wow, those are sweet. Nice color combination between the gold and black.

Very nice! Thanks for the pics. I have never seen the "champagne" color until now.

Skylab, I think that you have seen my champagne DT880/600s many times. For example when I recently posted pics of the Wenge Darths. And also in my sig. It's a very nice colour.

Hey, I've been tempted by these things ever since I've seen them. I've never heard them (but as a work of art they are worth the money)! I hope I am not butting in here but I don't know how else to get in a question as to the best way to go about looking in to having some made or finding directions on self mods. Is it better to get the phones and ship them to be modified or just do it all with the same person? I'll be going to the Toronto meet so I'll likely be able to hear which ones I want. Thanks for any comments, directions, or help of any kind.

Yeah, that's the gold option. Champagne looks quite a bit different.
Beyond that, it's black "soft touch", and (obviously) red leather pads.

The headband padding is regular pleather, not real leather.

You've borrowed these from a friend? The engraving seems to be made for this purpose.

But nice color combo indeed.
