I'm currently looking at those headphones but wasn't really sure what the sound difference really are between those.

So I guess my real question is:
1.) Which is best for what genre of music
2.) Which has the most bass
3.) Which has the best soundstage
4.) Which ones would be easier to drive.
5.) Comfort/Build quality

I mainly listen to Trance/Electro-house, Hip-hop, Rock

Thanks all!

I have the K702 and theyre not too hard to drive. Just get the right amp

From what I've read the k701 needs an a good amp, and they don't have much bass. So for a good amp you're looking at another $100+.

The DT770s are supposed to have a lot of bass.

K701/K702 are pretty difficult to amp properly. Even 'Asus Xonar Essence STX' can not drive them and a decent amp will run you over $400 or so. A good starter camp for them would be the C2 by Audio-GD.

Err. A Fiio E7+E9 does the trick just fine - $200 total

I forgot all about the M-Stage actually! That's a great amp for sure. I must pick one up some time!

I think the DT880 has tight defined bass. It does not have a ton of impact but it's a good bass. Not muddy, thumpy, or bloated.

As for amping it depends on which Ohm version you get. The 32Ohm models benefit from a bybrid amp design while the 250 does great on the M-Stage and the 600Ohm models are for higher up solid state amps or a nice OTL tube amps. The 600Ohm model can be powered by some lower end tube amps just fine like those from Little-Dot and PHENIX.

I just received the 32 ohm version today. so far i've only use the phone on my macbook pro unamped with itunes. i find the volume level to be quite low so i boost the preamp setting on itunes.

i can definitely say the headphone sounds absolutely amazing with rock (beatles, coldplay, jack johnson etc.), but with trance/electro-house and hip hop the bass is a little too weak for my taste but i can definitely say with electronica song with complex bass, bass frequency change is very very defined for sure!!!

the headphones are brand new as of today, after couple hundred hours worth of burn in will the bass have more punch to it???

also by hooking it up to an amp will that help boost the bass impact???

Will you get more bass after burn in? Most say yes but I personally don't believe in it.

The amp will help the bass gain control and texture and perhaps a little more impact. You could get a Bravo amp as that should be a decent starter amp, but a nice solid state would always be best.
