I have a quick question about amping dt770. I searched the forum, and I'm looking to buy PORTA CORDA MkIII.

1. Is that amp strong enough to power 250ohms dt770?
2. Do you reccomend any better amp for these phones in the same price range €125, and can be shipped to europe(or it is in europe).

thank you

I use DT880s with Porta Corda MKIII and yes the amp is strong enough and I do think that you can't find a better deal in that price range... Yet if you can strech your budget, you can get the new amp "move" from Jan Meier. Everybody seems to think that it is an amazing amp for the its price range....

I heard everybody is comparing Porta corda usb to new Move. So as i see meier stopped producing usb version of porta corda.

did the porta corda usb has batter sq(better opamp) than non usb version?

What's the SQ difference between non usb Porta corda and Move?
Is it worth €70 more if i wont use built in dac that often? Or it is expenciver just because built in DAC or it has realy better sq?

How's porta corda connected to external power suply(24) I didn't noticed no plug on the pictures on Meier's page

One more newb question

Can you plug digital out of home cd player into Move and use amp's dac?

Skylab included both of them in his roundup - the Move seems to be better, but whether it's better enough to justify the higher price, only you can decide.

There's a socket in the battery compartment.

I don't think so - I think the Move's DAC is USB only.

I use a Porta Corda MkIII-USB with my DT-880(250 Ohm) and DT-770(80 Ohm). I now only use this amp when listening to music on my computer and use a 30 volt power supply. The Beyers and HD 650 sounds very good and are easily driven.

It seems that the Move is a good bit bassier than Porta Corda which may not be good for DT-770. AFAIK the non USB version offers identical performance.

My 770's are v.3 Darth Beyers and they sound amazing with the Porta Corda running on 30 volts. It's been a long time since I tested using 9 volt or USB power but there was a nice improvement when I switched over to using 30 volts.

Not at all. The immense control the Corda MOVE has in the low frequences makes very good synergy with the DT 770.
