I dont know about dt-231 but in case of dt-770 basic is just larger fit version, and pro is for smaller head.

AFAIK there has NEVER been a Beyer DT231 Pro; in fact, the DT#31 series are their Hi-Fi line, NOT their Pro line.

So far I know of only the plain DT231 and the DT231 Galactic.

Don't worry spending the extra money on the Galactics - the simple difference is a translucent purple plastic strip down the headband, as opposed to the plain grayish colour of the DT231 standards.
But if that's what you want, go for it - it's just the difference is purely cosmetic.

I just checked closely the specifications of both versions, and they seem to be exactly the same. and if I look closely to the dt231pro picture, it doesn't have 'pro' written on it...

I guess beyer also named the dt231 as dt231pro (in distribution) because they believe the dt231 works as much for consumer use than for pro use.

well, that means I will buy the dt231 pro!! this way I will have the advantage of having the word 'pro' written on the receipt

The online pics of the DT231Galactic really doesn't look much like them at all.

The standard DT231 is very bland, military grey.. it's quite ugly.
The Galactic is actually more dark blue than purple, the colour on the web makes them look really odd.
