I'm just getting deeper into headphones and this is my first post.  I have mid to lower range vintage gear to choose from.  I'm looking for what would likely and in general be best to drive a variety of headphones for now until I can buy a headphone amp later on.  The source is usually a component CD player. Here are a few things I have on hand:
Sonic Impact 5065 Amp
Dayton DTA-100a Amp
JVC JR-S501 Vintage Receiver
NAD 7020 Vintage Receiver
Yamaha CR-220 Vintage Receiver
NAD 1020 Preamplifier
AudioSource AMP-100 Amp

Here are a few of the headphone I have on hand (I mostly try to find good deals on used or broken ones that I can make simple repairs on to stay low cost):
Sennheiser Urbanite
Sennheiser Urbanite XL
Creative Aurvana Live!
Beats Solo 2
Philips CitiScape Downtown
Sennheiser HD555
Shure SRH840
various IEMs

Any input is helpful as I begin my road to financial ruin / audio nirvana.

Welcome to Head-Fi! Sorry about your wallet :D

Not sure how well the little modern digital amps do with their headphone output. Probably varies depending on the amp.

Vintage receivers tend to do well with high impedance headphones (250 ohm and up) but may not be optimal for low impedance headphones. Vintage receivers often have a tape record out, so you could always add a dedicated headphone amp to them.

Receivers that are over 20 or 25 years old or more may need some refurbishing to sound their best.

Are you buying the receiver for use with speakers as well? Or strictly for headphones? If the latter, why not just get a dedicated headphone amp? And what would be your overall budget?

Good to know.  Everything I have listed is stuff I already have on hand.  I won't be buying a headphone amp for several months but I want to start zeroing in on which are my favorite headphones I already have and this listening station is how I will usually be listening to them once I pick my favorites.
