ok i'm reading a lot of different things and with so many diff opinions i won't ever be able to make my mind up and have the reassurance that i chose the right pair of cans for my gaming needs so let's see

open or closed?

i should have made more options, but let's say the scenario is in your home with only the computer fans as your noise

most importantly: sound positioning of where people are

I like closed better for gaming, but that might just be the DT770 talking. Much more useful if you do a Lan party.

I tend to prefer an open headphone, but the HSC-271 which I currently game with is closed, the K701 isn't half bad though.

Closed since I do not like to be disturbed during my frag sessions. A900s FTW!

Ive used closed and open HD595 and i much prefer closed A500.I really enjoy the isolation a closed headphone gives you when your gaming, plus the A500 gives you that extra base and IMO better sound direction.
