I would like to use my headphones to listen to my tv in my bedroom.

The tv do not have a 3.5mm output. It has rca output and optical output, that's all.

What is the cheapest way to use my headphones?

I have a spare home theater amp but it's way too bulky.

What headphones?

Fiio E17 (DAC/Amp) comes with an optical input, sometimes goes on sale for around $105.

PAV2V (Pocket Amplifier 2 Version 2), sells on eBay for around $60.

Optional
A Fiio D3 optical input DAC ($28) can be used with the PAV2V headphone amplifier.
