Just ordered a Grado SR125 and a Airhead 9v. I assume you should burn this headphones in like you would with any other quality speaker. What's some good media to burn them in with? How loud and for how long? I assume I should use the Airhead 9v to burn them in, is there any reason to do it differently (other than costing me a 9v battery)?

Burn them in for about 100 hours (this is just standard burn-in time, I'm not sure what the minimal required burn-in time is for the SR-125's, though) and I think it would be best (IMO) to use your best sounding source and amp (if your receiver and home CDP sound better than your portable Airhead, then go with that instead). As far as media, use (1) a VARIETY of different music, and secondly, use (2) music that you would actually listen to.

I have a pair of 125s and I burned them in by playing music through them for a few days. I played the music louder than my normal listening levels. They sound great now, but I am not certain that the burn in did anything to change the sound since it's not really possible for me to compare the sound after burn in to the sound when I first got them. It could have easily been that my ears got acclimitized to the sound of the headphones. Just a heads up, the headband is metal and can be "stretched" outwards to improve comfort. The 125s used to hurt my ears, when I first got them, but bending the metal band slightly outwards has really improved my comfort with the headphones. Enjoy your new headphones.
