OTL, reasonably priced, works well with low Z headphones. Pick two.

As Tom has suggested, used Singlepower's are great (new models aren't as appealing due to the company's horrid customer service) - but I'd also consider an EAR+ HD from Mapletree Audio Design in Canada, which offers fantastically detailed, yet distinctively tube-like sound.
