I have pretty much narrowed my choices of balanced amps to drive my 650's with: The Headamp GS-X or the Headroom Home Balanced.
Which of these two amps would you most recommend as having the best overall synergy with the Sennheiser HD650's?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Is your source balanced? I know the GS-X needs a balanced source.
Have you considered the Rudistor NX-33? It has very good synergy with balanced HD650...

It really depends on what you are looking for.
1. the GS-X is exactly what people are talking about when they speak of the benefits of having a balanced setup with the HD650. I've heard other balanced amps, and there are some out there that don't even sounds as clear or have the soundstage of a well built SE amp (Zana Deux, B22, etc...). The GS-X is very tight, clear, transparent, and has one of the best soundstages I have ever heard (second only to the Dynamight). When listening to it, there is a real sense that the HD650 has been transformed into an entirely different can.
2. The headroom amps are a bit different. They strengthen the pre-existing sound signature of the HD650...making it sounds more authoritative and giving it a serious bass-kick.

This is very much of what I've heard as well. The GS-X addresses the flaws of the HD650, whereas the Headroom sound plays up the HD650's strengths. Both could be considered good synergy. It depends on whether you want to indulge yourself in the HD650 sound signature (Headroom) or make the HD650 a more universally applicable sounding headphone (Headamp).
