hey all -

i'm trying to audition some totem speakers and maybe some vr-1's. anyone know a place in or around l.a. that has 'em? thanks.

Try a pair of Vandersteen 1C at Brooks Berdan Ltd (626-359-9131)in Monrovia CA (605 and 210). They are under your budget for VR1's and a very good value. I just bought Vandersteen 2ce sig's there, and love them.

I believe I saw a demo pair at a shop in Redondo Beach. I can't remember the name of the place. It's in the same parking lot as Definition Audio/Video (www.definition.com)

I wasn't to thrilled with my experience there but to be fair the guy was overly worked. The place felt a little too "high end" too. The sales guy wasn't too excited about selling less then very high end gear. When I asked about the Von Schweikerts he first wasn't to positive but when pushed he admited that they were pretty good. Just a weird vibe. YMMV.

I think I saw a pair once at a cool little shop on Beverly called Ahead Stereo. Low key place with decent sales people. It might be worth a call.
