Best Source:Amp Volume Ratio?

    I can't find info on this anywhere. What is the best volume ratio for the amp vs the source. Should the amp be louder? Is there a "golden ratio"????

    General consensus is not to connect Source->Amp using Source's headphone output--you should be using a Line Level output, where possible. The reason, as far as I understand it, is that:
    Source Headphone Out (HPA) = Amplified by Source already
    HPA -> Amp
    is 2x amplification. And that's just plain unnecessary.
    However, the designer of the PA2V2 amp, Gary, has the following recommendations for those who wish to use HPA -> Amp:

    I use the cowon J3 so I don't have any line out options sadly.
