Hey everyone, I'm brand new to the forum, and I joined to get a headphone recommendation. I just received the ATH-M50x in the mail today from amazon. I had bought them after hearing all the glorious praise the headphones had from almost every reviewer and user on the internet. However, when I got the headphones and started listening, I was pretty disappointed. The sound feels like it's coming from a very narrow window rather that coming from all around. I did some research and found that the M50x had a very small sound stage, and im assuming thats why the sound sounded so narrow and distant (correct me if I'm wrong here). Anyway, as of 2016, what headphones sound best under $200? I've heard that the Beyerdynamic Dt 770 Pro had a good soundstage, but they are a pretty old headphone (Came out about 12 years ago) so, I was afraid they may have been outdated by another headphone. So for under $200 (a tad bit more would be fine), what headphone has the best soundstage, with at least decent clarity?

Sidenote: I listen to every type of music IE: Folk, Rock, Rap, Trap, Classical, you name it

Also, I would prefer isolation.

Do you need isolation?

Both Soundmgic HP-150 and AKG K550/1/3 would work very well.

Isolation would be preferable

Open headphones are typically going to give you a bigger soundstage than closed.

Depending on how big you are looking for the soundstage to be, you might have to give up isolation.

I'll suggest AKG K7XX for open headphones:
