Okay, just looking for some of the best songs with drum solos or features, or that just have some bad-***** drumming. Let's limit to 3 answers per post to keep it easily digestable. I'll start with:

Moby Dick - Led Zeppelin (Bonham)
YYZ - Rush (Peart)
Time - Pink Floyd (Mason) - I love the intro

Not to bash, but solo a) is just awful. It manages to be pointless, boring and without any groove what so ever.
Buddy Rich on the other hand is - as always - so excellent it's not even funny.
If you want great drumming, I recommend Jon Theodore's playing on The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium. Best drummer out there today.

I love lots of Portnoy's work.

A good example would be his drumming in Dream Theater's "The Dance Of Eternity".

Not necessarily about the solos, but good sections of drumming:

Police - Bombs Away
Medeski, Martin and Wood - Ten Dollar High
And just for fun, Bill Bruford's Palewell Park. Bill is an unquestioned master on the drums, but I'm still trying to understand the drums in that song.

I guess I've heard a douzen or two of Dream Theatre's songs, and I still think their best is "The Dance of Eternity". That song does have amazing drumming indeed.

Also, if you don't mind metalcore....Unearth - Unstoppable has some pretty slick drumming during some verses. All That Remains also got a half decent drummer on their newer album.

YYZ - Rush gets my vote too. There's a certain video of it on YouTube that is just amazing. It's the one where the lighting is all red (I'm at work so I can't search for it). Watch it now!

I have always loved the drum work by Danny Carey in The Grudge by TOOL. Well really I like all his stuff...

I also really love John Dolmayan's work in all the System of a Down albums...dude is a machine with hi-hat/snare combos...

Pretty much everything he did on Lateralus was golden. Try to listen to the background of Faaip de Oiad. Just plain crazy.

The drummer from The Mars Volta ranks as one of my recent favorites, though last I heard he left the band after Amputecture.

Oh, and I loved the Buddy Rich solo that JadeEast posted. Thanks.

Some stuff I particularly enjoy...

- Frost's work on 1349's Hellfire. Insane fast, technical, but unique black metal drumming.
- Basically anything by Mastodon. Bran is pretty crazy and it fits the music perfectly.
- Martin Lopez from Opeth on Ghost Reveries. What class.

Absolutely - and the song is a classic. Nothing he's done since can tarnish that.

I'd also like to nominate my personal favourite drummer, BJ Wilson (RIP). He's solid all around, but for a bit of a tease, check out "Power Failure" from Procol Harum's Broken Barricades album.

Cool backstory to that solo, actually... but I'll let the interested search for that.
