Well I've always used Kazaa to play my MP3s because I liked the way it sorted them (by tags instead of file names) but I have one big problem with it:
Volume - Its just not loud enough. Even with the software volume control all the way up, it is not nearly as loud as ANY other software programs. Sure, I could crank my speakers to get the volume that I want but then when Windows beeps at me the volume of the beep nearly takes my head off.

I also am a bit freaked by the threat of the lawsuit by the RIAA as I have nearly 100 movies and 1500 songs in my share and I would probably be fairly high on the list to be sued.

So basically I'm looking for something that will be louder but still sound good and be able to organize my MP3s by their ID3 tag names.

I've tried Windows Media Player and WinAmp but was rather underwhelmed with both of them. Windows Media Player had the organization thing I wanted but the interface felt bloated and not very user friendly.

Anybody?

NVDVD is by far the best. It beats the crud out of Foobar and Winamp. You can get it for free (you probably know how), but it's $40 to buy. It's got the best sound and THE BEST interface for mp3 organization.

NVDVD seems like a good player and it may have a great interface, but to say it beats the "crud out of Foobar" while offering far less audio features, seems a tad exaggerated... not to mention the $40 price difference.

What kind of audio features does Foobar have that NVDVD doesn't?

I just have winamp. I only use mp3s occasionally for background music on the computer. Sounds great with these Videologic Crossfires.

EAC > RazorLame >--alt-preset extreme

Does anyone know the command line for the fast preset below extreme?
