Bernard Edwards - Chic, sorry but his playing kicked ass

Another underrated bass player i would say is Flea. I saw homeboy play for Janes Addiction two years ago at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA and the guy was phenominal.

Claypool is the ****, but primus? imo hes done better on lots of different occasions. Murphy, Wooten, Lesh, Gould, Wood, and Mercurio are beyond insane as well. I wouldnt consider them all rock 'n roll though, the category would have to be expanded to something like experimental pimp jazz trip funk 'n roll.

I never got the sense that he was under rated. All the Zeps have gotte mucho credit throughout the past three decades.
