Looking for best possible sound quality releases of Black Sabbath albums. I have two albums remastered from the original tapes, Paranoid and Sabotage released by GimcastleLtd/Castle Communications PLC in England that sound quite good. Any one compared varies releases or have any suggestions?

Anyone has the Symptom of the Universe: The Original Black Sabbath 1970-1978 released by Rhino Records?

I have also seen on ebay remastered versions in mini lp style sleeve, any ideas if this is any good? I know that some Pink Floyd albums have been released like this and supposed to be quite good. Not sure if that's the same company.

How about The Complete 70's Replica CD Collection. UK exclusive deluxe box-set (remastered)? amazon

Thanks for suggestions!

The best sounding Sabbath records are the ones Satan

didn't write, produce and master.

I guess that would disqualify all Sabbath records.

I have the Black Sabbath collection from Rhino that you mentioned. It DOES sound excellent. I also have "Sabotage" in the Mini-LP sleeve and it also is very good quality.

I just heard though, that they will be releasing a new Box set that will contain the complete 8 studio albums from the original Black Sabbath, newly remastered. I think it may be out by the end of this year, but no official release date was mentioned.

Wouldn't it be great if they released Sabbath Bloody Sabbath on DVD-A or SACD? I think this album would be amazing in either format...

According to the customer reviews at Amazon, The Complete 70's Replica CD Collection is remastered and everyone says it sounds great... It sounds tempting...

There is a thread here that discussed this a couple months ago, I have:
-2 Castle remasters of individual albums
-Symptom of Universe (rhino)
-Complete Replica Set, it is remastered

best sound for me is Replica set, plus you get all kinds of cool artwork etc.

The only one that sounds to me unacceptable is the Born Again, with Gillan singing, that is a real shame for the Gillan fans, even when I do not consider myself this album as a great one, I would like to hear it better recorded though, this mix was simply made by a drunk IMO, the rest are not very good ones, but at least are aceptable for me, the latest ones sound much better, but unfortunately this is not the best era....

If I can't find any specific info on the new release then I guess I will pickup a set you mentioned. I trust your opinion as to the quality of it

Very true, allot of great albums I have from the 70s/80s are totally ruined by the recording and mastering quality... and now most of the newer stuff is way over compressed totally ruining the dynamics and arrogantly cutting the peaks ...
